Little Diamonds Preschool's Curriculum
Little Diamonds Preschool is the fusion of education and fitness! We belive a fusion of education and fitness is essential in developing life-long success and health in children. We place a strong emphasis on academics and have adopted the Open Court Phonics System (same system used by the Brentwood Union School District) to ensure your child is ready for kindergarten when he/she enters while taking advantage of Black Diamond Kid Center's indoor gym to push the importance of exercise.
Classes are offered to potty trained children ages 3 (as of August 1, 2012) up to pre-kindergarten.
A Typical Day Includes...
- Daily Greetings and Discovery Time:
- At this time we strive to create a sense of belonging to something special and positive social development with friends and teachers.
- Group Circle Time:
- This activity helps students make feel new students welcomed, use language skills appropriately and respect of others' feelings through listening skills. We concentrate on the calendar, weather, shapes, counting, stories, song & dance, character traits, phonics, spanish and sign language.
- Music:
- This time develops literacy skills, rhythm, movement, and coordination with music.
- Center Time:
- These activities focus on developing a students math, reading and writing skills in a small group setting. Students will develop their fine motor skills, self-expression, color recognition, language skills, social skills, and cooperation.
- Fitness and Gymnastics Time:
- Fitness time is full of fun, motor development and exercise. Students have access to our entire facility to tumble on mats, bounce of trampolines, roll down mats, ride bikes and run around the play yard. Students especially love playing in the foam pit.
- Free Play:
- This activity allows students to explore, discover and learn new things in a creative manner.
- Spanish Immersion:
- A two hour class devoted to the art of the Spanish language. Children will be immersed in Spanish through games, songs, stories, art, phrases, alphabet, numbers, colors and so much more! Offered Monday-Friday from 2:00-4:00pm.
- NEW! KinderSpanish
- Little Diamonds Preschool now offers Spanish Immersion to Kindergarteners within the Brentwood, Discovery Bay and Oakley school districts (with or without transportation*). Spanish Immersion / After Care available until 6pm.
